LRC Services and Facilities

Circulation Desk

Circulation Desk is the focal service point for library services. It is located on the 3rd Floor of the ADPOLY Abu Dhabi Campus and the ground floor of the ADPOLY Al Ain campus. It provides circulation services and basic reference services for users. 

Reading Tables and Individual Study Carrel

Group study tables and study carrels are available for use in the LRCs. Most of the computer tables also serve as study carrels for individual study or reading.

Student Requests

Students / Staff may request additions to the collection. Forms for “Requests and Recommendations” are to be made available for students and all requests will be considered. 

Information Literacy 

The LRC offers orientation programs, workshops, seminars, reference services, and additional services to support students, faculty, and staff in honing their information literacy skills. This equips them with the ability to effectively find, assess, evaluate, and ethically utilize information and knowledge across various online platforms, printed materials, and other formats.

Current Awareness Services

The library aims to provide current awareness to support the information needs of staff and students at the Abu Dhabi Polytechnic. Individual staff may be placed on email notification lists to be notified when resources and services relevant to their academic or research needs are received. New books are prominently displayed, and a list will be posted on the library portal.

Document Delivery / Intra-Library Loan and Cooperative Agreements between Libraries

While the Abu Dhabi Polytechnic Library aims to build a strong resource library for its students and training sections, it is important to have links with other institutions to fully support users.

The librarian maintains contact with other academic libraries in the region through both formal and informal networks. ADPOLY LRCs share resources with all entities of IAT and ADVETI. 

The Document delivery service allows faculty, students, and staff to obtain journal articles and book chapters not available in the ADPoly Library collection. 

The Interlibrary loan service allows ADPoly Library users to borrow books from other libraries and universities. The ADPoly Library mainly borrows books from other IAT libraries to fulfill any urgent need of print resources.

Course Reserves 

Allows faculty members to put materials on reserve for courses, to ensure that all students enrolled in a course can get assigned materials. 

Computer Workstations / Examination Room

The ADPOLY Learning Resource Centers provide computer workstations with internet facilities, and MS Office Programs available for educational purposes only. Lock-down browser is installed on all computers.

Library computers are to be used for educational purposes ONLY. 

The library assumes no responsibility for any data which may be downloaded by the user or for their liability of such data.

Changing, modifying, or eliminating library computer configurations and loading any application or program software onto the library computers is prohibited.

ADPOLY Al Ain has an examination room with 25 computers that can be used by faculty who want to administer their quizzes or assessments. Booking of library rooms in AA are done through an online booking form in the library portal.

Wireless Internet Connection

To access electronic resources and other learning tools, ADPOLY is providing free wireless connection to staff, students and guests.

Library Portal 

This is a cloud-based library service platform that allows registered users on campus and off campus access to resources and services such as Databases, Digital Repository, Ask-A-Librarian, Suggest for Purchase, ADPOLY Learning Centers, ADPOLY Student Clubs and Service Forms.

Innovation Hub / Innovation Majilis

ADPOLY AA has a newly established Innovation Hub which has equipment and furniture dedicated for innovation activities, workshops, seminars, research activities and innovation classes. 

ADPOLY AD has an Innovation majilis which was inaugurated in 2022 by HE Eng Hussain Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of IAT.  This is a modernized majilis that aims to foster creativity, innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange within ADPOLY.

Study Rooms

AD Campus has dedicated group study rooms which cater to students who want to study and discuss in groups.

Online public access catalog (OPAC)

The LRC adopts the U.S. Library of Congress classification system for cataloging, classifying and arranging its collection. All library holdings are searchable through the online public access catalog (OPAC), which is fully accessible on and off-campus
